B-Sens Hold Off Bruins 2-1
February 22, 2004

Rob Ray's power play goal late in the second period stood up as the game-winner as the Binghamton Senators fended off the Providence Bruins 2-1 Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Sens' 26th victory of the season was witnessed by the 14th sellout of the year with 4,717 fans taking in the victory.

With Binghamton holding a 1-0 lead courtesy of Arpad Mihaly's 5th goal of the season at 15:24 of the opening period, the Sens went on the power play laste in the middle period as Andre Savage highsticked the Sens' Mike Brown.

It took just 21 seconds to make the Bruins pay when Andy Hedlund's left wing blast was tipped by Ray and past Providence netminder Hannu Toivonen (20 saves) to make it 2-0 at the 16:16 mark.

The Bruins cut the lead in half on a Savage marker with 3:30 left in the game, but would not get the equalizer before time expired.

Savage's goal was the only shot to elude Ray Emery, who stopped 32 shots on the night.

Binghamton travels to Springfield to take on the Falcons Sunday in a 4:05 faceoff.
