OTTAWA SENATORS SIGN PAT KAVANAGH
OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators, NHL affiliate of the Binghamton Senators, announce today the signing of right winger Pat Kavanagh to a multi-year deal with the club.
The Ottawa native spent the 2003-04 season with the Manitoba Moose registering 23 goals and 22 assists during the regular season. His 45 points placed him second on the team in scoring. In 274 regular season American Hockey League games, Kavanagh has tallied 63 goals and 64 assists for 127 points.
Kavanagh was recalled once by the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League during the 2003-04 regular season, seeing action in three games and scoring his lone goal on the Senators’ Martin Prusek in a 2-1 Canucks loss on March 13 in Vancouver. He was also recalled during the playoffs, but did not see any action.
The Philadelphia Flyers selected Kavanagh in round 2 (50th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired from the Flyers by the Canucks on June 1, 1999 in exchange for a sixth round draft choice (Konstantin Rudenko). He scored his first professional goal with Syracuse (AHL) on Nov. 28, 1999 against Philadelphia (AHL).
