HYMOVITZ NAMED SENATORS' 2003-04 AMERICAN SPECIALTY/AHL MAN OF THE YEAR The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that David Hymovitz has been named the Senators' winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Binghamton community and charitable organizations during the 2003-04 season.
Hymovitz’s initiative resulted in the Senators being well represented in and around the city of Binghamton in the club’s second season in the American Hockey League. Among his off-ice highlights, Hymovitz spearheaded a Christmastime donation program among the Senators’ players that benefited the Day Nursery Association, headed a list of players that took part in a holiday blood drive for the local chapter of the American Red Cross, and arranged to visit Hillel Academy, a private Jewish school in the Southern Tier. Hymovitz also participated in numerous reading appearances in conjunction with local elementary schools and their spring reading programs.
In recognition of his efforts, Hymovitz will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming home game.
Hymovitz is now one of 28 finalists for the 2003-04 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award, named after the former Hershey Bears forward who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia, will be presented during the Calder Cup 2004 Final.
