Goaltender Robin Lehner made his 2010-11 debut in the Binghamton net Friday versus Hershey. The Bears however would spoil it for the 19 year-old goaltender scoring seven goals on 35 shots on their way to a 7-1 victory. Brian Willsie led the Bears offensively scoring one goal and three assists for four points. Francois Bouchard (two goals, one assist), Andrew Gordon (one goal, two assists) and Matthieu Perreault (one goal, two assists) each notched a three point night against the B-Sens. Corey Locke scored the lone Binghamton goal, his first of the 2010-11 season. Ryan Keller and Bobby Butler added the assists. 
 
Saturday, Oct. 16: Binghamton 1, Syracuse 2
Shots: Binghamton 32, Syracuse 19
PP: Binghamton 0 for 3, Syracuse 0 for 5
 
The B-Sens hit the ice at the War Memorial at the Oncenter in Syracuse, N.Y. Saturday looking to bounce back after their blowout versus the Bears, but dropped their third straight game despite outshooting the Crunch 32 to 19. Bobby Butler scored for the B-Sens, his third goal of the young season, with just 1:10 left in regulation. Corey Locke and Andre Benoit added assists, each earning a point in the match. Brandon McMillan and Nicolas Deschamps were the goal scorers for the Crunch. Barry Brust tended goal for Binghamton, making 17 saves, but it was his counter part Timo Pielmeier who stole the show stopping 31 of 32 B-Sens shots on goal.
 
Sunday, Oct. 17: Binghamton 3, Toronto 1
Shots: Binghamton 29, Toronto 42
PP: Binghamton 1 for 5, Toronto 0 for 3
 
A three game skid came to a halt at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Sunday. Barry Brust put forth a first star-worthy performance, turning away all 41 Marlies’ shots faced to help lead the Senators to the 3-1 victory. Rookie forward Colin Greening notched the game-winning goal (his first professional goal) at 9:13 of the second period. Ryan Keller and Erik Condra also recorded goals for the B-Sens.  Brayden Irwin was the lone goal scorer for the Marlies in the match. 
 
Record:2-3-0-0
 
Standings:The B-Sens are currently tied with the Albany Devils for fifth place in the East Division (four points).
 
THIS WEEK…
 
Friday, Oct. 22 @ Hartford Wolf Pack (New York Rangers)
The B-Sens will be among the last few teams travelling to Hartford to see the Wolf Pack - as of November 27 the Wolf Pack will become the Connecticut Whale. Hartford enters the week ranked second in the Atlantic Division with a record of 3-1-0-1 and seven points. The Wolf Pack roster features former Ottawa Senators defenseman Wade Redden. In five games with the Pack, Redden has recorded six points (one goal, five assists). Hartford also boasts a talented goaltending tandem. Rookie net minder Cameron Talbot turned away all 41 shots faced in his first professional start Sunday, Oct. 17 versus the Providence Bruins (a 3-0 Wolf Pack win). Goaltender Chad Johnson has appeared in four games for the Pack, putting up a record of 2-1-1-0 and 2.22 goals-against average. 
 
Saturday, Oct. 23 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins)
The B-Sens head to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza to face the East Division rival Penguins for the first time in the 2010-11 season. The Pens are currently undefeated; having won all four games played and are holding the top spot in the East Division with eight points. Dustin Jeffrey enters the week with the team lead in points with five (two goals, three assists). Forward Joe Vitale is tied for first overall in the league in game-winning goals. Vitale has notched two of the four games winners for Wilkes-Barre.  John Curry and Brad Thiessen have split the goaltending duties for the Penguins thus far, each having played two games. Curry boasts a 2.00 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage, while Thiessen entered the week with a goals-against average of 2.40 and a save percentage of .923.
 
SENS SNIPPETS…
 
Forward Corey Locke and Andre Benoit are currently tied for first overall on the B-Sens in points. Locke has one goal and five assists for six points in five games played. Benoit has six assists for six points in five games and is tied for fourth overall in the American Hockey League among defensemen in scoring. 
 
Locke currently has the longest active point streak for the B-Sens. Locke has recorded a point in each of the B-Sens five games played, including a two point performance (two assists) Oct. 9 versus Norfolk.
 
Forward Corey Cowick made his professional debut Saturday, Oct. 16 in Syracuse. Cowick recorded no points, but amassed five penalty minutes after going toe to toe with Crunch forward John Kurtz.
 
Defenseman Derek Smith surpassed Jan Platil on the B-Sens all-time list in games played. Smith now ranks eight overall with 206. 
 
B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY…
 
Wednesday, Oct. 20 – 2010 B-Sens “Paint with the Players” Workshop – 1:30 to 3 p.m.
The Magic Paintbrush Project, Oakdale Mall, Johnson City, N.Y.
Binghamton Senators players will join special needs children and families at the Magic Paintbrush Project for a special workshop. This event supports individuals with special needs as they demonstrate how they use teamwork to successfully navigate the daily challenges of living with a disability. The planned activities include “Pumpkin Hockey” and the 7th Man Slide. These activities have been carefully developed to meet these identified needs, with abundant laughter and purpose. The event is closed to the general public.
 
Sunday, Oct. 24 – FAZ4 Benefit – 1 to 6 p.m.
Our Lady of Sorrows School, 801 Main Street, Vestal, N.Y.
Binghamton Senators forwards Cody Bass, Bobby Butler and Erik Condra, and defensemen Eric Gryba and Craig Schira will be appearing at the FAZ4 benefit being held for Frank Zurla. The 24 year-old Vestal native and member of the Binghamton Senators game night staff was diagnosed with a blood cancer known as multiple myeloma. The event features food, raffles, prizes and an opportunity to register for the National Bone-Marrow Donor Registry. The event is open to the public. Tickets to the event are $15. For more info visit: faz4benefit.wordpress.com
