LAST WEEK: The Binghamton Senators (39-27-5-3, 86 pts.) battled through a difficult week and took two points to maintain their four-place position in the fight for the final playoff spot in the East Division.
WEDNESDAY, MAR. 25 vs. PHILADELPHIA (3-1 L): The Phantoms held the B-Sens to just one goal on 37 shots. Defenseman Mattias Karlsson spoiled the shutout bid with his eighth marker of the season. Denis Hamel and Ilya Zubov assisted on the power-play goal. With the assist, Hamel became the 75th AHL player to reach 500 points (267+233). Binghamton held a 19-2 shot advantage in the third period. Netminder Jeff Glass made 21 saves in the losing effort.
FRIDAY, MAR. 27 vs. HERSHEY (4-0 L): Hershey netted three goals in the middle period to pull away in the 4-0 loss for Binghamton. Despite 47 shots, including 20 in the final period, the B-Sens were unable to solve netminder Michal Neuvirth and were shutout for just the fourth time this season. The B-Sens finished the 2008-09 season series against Hershey with a 4-4-0-0 record.
SATURDAY, MAR. 28 vs. ROCHESTER (3-2 W-SO): Binghamton needed a late rally in the final stanza and a timely goal from Denis Hamel to force overtime and a shootout, where they defeated nemesis Rochester. For the third straight game the B-Sens increased their shot total, racking up 52 shots in regulation and overtime. Rochester netminder David Shantz turned away 22 shots in the final period. Binghamton capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play with Hamel scoring his team leading 25th marker. Following a scoreless overtime session, the B-Sens scored on three straight shootout attempts. Hamel, Greg Mauldin and Ilya Zubov each put the puck past Shantz to secure the crucial extra point for Binghamton.
THIS WEEK: The Binghamton Senators welcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (46-24-2-2, 96 pts.) to town in the eighth and final meeting of the season between the two teams. The B-Sens travel to Rochester to take on the Americans (26-40-0-8, 60 pts.) at Blue Cross Arena on Friday night. Binghamton then returns to home ice for a Saturday contest against the Albany River Rats (31-34-3-4, 69 pts.).

VS. WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON: The Senators are looking for their fourth win of the season over the Penguins. Binghamton has won two of the last three games, including a 2-1 road victory on March 7. Jeff Glass turned away 42 of 43 shots to secure the victory over the Penguins. Netminder John Curry is tied for the league lead with 31 victories in net, a new Penguins record. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton leading scorer Janne Pesonen (29+45) has six goals and three assists in six games against Binghamton this season.
VS. ROCHESTER: Binghamton has controlled the season series with Rochester, collecting a 5-1-1-0 record against its New York rival. The wins haven’t come easy though, as the last four games in this series have been decided by one goal, including one overtime game and one shootout ending. Defenseman Mattias Karlsson, who leads Binghamton with 41 assists, has collected eight assists in five games against Rochester this season.
VS. ALBANY: The B-Sens haven’t faced the River Rats since early Feb. 11, a 4-2 loss at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Binghamton won the first three games of the season series, with Albany taking the last three. Right-winger Jakub Petruzalek leads the River Rats with 50 points (17+33), including eight points (1+7) against Binghamton.
