The Ottawa Senators assigned today center Peter Regin to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.
Regin made his National Hockey League debut on Jan. 20 vs. Washington and has appeared in six games with Ottawa this season. He recorded his only point when he scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory at St. Louis on Jan. 29. In his first season with the B-Sens, Regin has scored eight goals and added 13 assists while recording 24 penalty minutes in 32 games.
Regin is only the fifth player born in Denmark to have played in an NHL game. The others are Poul Popiel (Boston Bruins, 1965-66), Frans Nielsen (New York Islanders, 2006-07), Jannik Hansen (Vancouver Canucks, 2007-08) and Mikkel Boedker (Phoenix Coyotes, 2008-09).
Regin was Ottawa's second third-round pick, 87th overall, in the 2004 NHL entry draft.
The B-Sens host the San Antonio Rampage tonight at 7:05 p.m. Good seats remain for this contest. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling ticket master at 722-7272, or at the Arena box office inside the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. |
