BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Dunkin’ Donuts has been named the official coffee of the Binghamton Senators as part of a new season-long partnership that will bring a number of community and fan-oriented elements to Veterans Memorial Arena for the 2012-13 hockey season.
The highlight of the partnership is the “Goals for Coffee” charitable initiative for which Dunkin’ Donuts will donate one pound of coffee to Food Bank of the Southern Tier for every home goal scored by the Senators during the 2012-13 regular season. The B-Sens scored 119 home goals a year ago. By matching their scoring output this season, the Senators would generate nearly 7,000 cups of coffee for residents in need throughout the Southern Tier.
“We are honored to announce a partnership with the Binghamton Senators that will support an organization as vital as Food Bank of the Southern Tier,” said Eric Stensland, field marketing manager for Dunkin’ Donuts. “The purpose of the partnership is to capture the excitement of each home goal and turn it into a tangible benefit for the food bank.”
Each week, over 11,000 individuals visit a hunger-relief agency served by Food Bank of the Southern Tier. In 2011, the food bank distributed nearly seven million pounds of food to neighbors in need across the six Southern Tier counties of Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins.
“This partnership provides a great opportunity for us to assist Food Bank of the Southern Tier as it works tirelessly to help residents in need,” said Tom Mitchell, Executive Vice President for the Binghamton Senators. “This is one of the many ways local residents and fans will benefit from the Senators new partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts this season.”
In addition to the charitable initiative, Dunkin’ Donuts has also been named the title sponsor of the “Sweet Shutout” promotion. If the Senators are able to shutout their opponent in any home game during the 2012-13 regular season, fans will receive a coupon as they exit the arena for a free donut from participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the Southern Tier.
Dunkin’ Donuts will also host a special night at Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, Feb. 23 when the Senators are home to the Albany Devils at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a rechargeable Dunkin’ Donuts card valued at $2.
The Binghamton Senators will kick off the 2012-13 regular season when they host Wilkes/Barre-Scranton this Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:05 p.m.
