The B-Sens ambushed the Adirondack Phantoms, who were just thankful to get out of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Thanksgiving. Binghamton went on to rout the Phantoms 7-0. Josh Hennessy led the charge for the B-Sens netting two goals and an assist for three points and going +4 in the game. Denis Hamel also put forth a two-goal performance, while defenseman Erik Karlsson recorded three assists. Kaspars Daugavins, Drew Bannister, and Jim O’Brien would also find the back of the Adirondack net for Binghamton. Andy Chiodo manned the pipes, stopping all 34 shots faced.

The B-Sens traveled north of the border to Toronto to take on the North Division’s Marlies. After two periods of play, the B-Sens had a commanding 4-1 leg up on the Marlies. Josh Hennessy once again led the offense, registering a goal and an assist in the match. Derek Smith, Martin St. Pierre and Kaspars Daugavins also scored for Binghamton. Toronto however would go on to score four unanswered goals in the third period for the come-from-behind victory. Ben Ondrus had a big night for the Marlies scoring two goals and recording an assist.

PP: Binghamton 2 for 6, Rochester 0 for 6

The B-Sens completed a stretch of three games in three nights, looking far from fatigued as they went on to defeat the North Division leading Rochester Amerks 5-0. The teams remained scoreless through two periods of play. In the third period the Binghamton offense exploded for five goals: two shorthanded, two on the power play and one at even strength. Martin St. Pierre recorded four points in the match (one goal, three assists). Josh Hennessy and Denis Hamel each found the net for the B-Sens, while Erik Condra would register two goals in the final nine minutes of play. Chris Holt made his B-Sens debut in net, stopping all 27 shots faced to earn his second American Hockey League shutout.

Record:11-9-2-1
Standings:The B-Sens are tied for second place in the East division (25 points)

THIS WEEK…

Friday, Dec. 4 vs. Syracuse Crunch (Columbus Blue Jackets)
Saturday, Dec. 5 @ Syracuse Crunch

The B-Sens prepare for a home and home series versus their I-81 and East Division rivals, the Syracuse Crunch. The teams have met twice so far this season, splitting the series 1-1. The B-Sens defeated the Crunch handsomely 6-2 at the Broome County Veteran’s Memorial Arena on Oct. 9; while the Crunch went on to win 4-3 at the Onondaga Veterans Memorial Arena on Oct. 23. Syracuse trails the B-Sens by five points in the standings, currently ranked sixth in the East Division with 20 points. The Crunch could be fighting quite the uphill battle. Syracuse is 2-9-1-1 in 13 road games played so far this season and are facing a B-Sens team that has won their past three home matches, including back-to-back home shutouts.

SENS SNIPPITS

Josh Hennessy has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 29. In three games last week Hennessy recorded four goals and three assists for seven points and went an impressive plus-9. Hennessy currently has eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 23 games played so far this season and his overall plus-14 ties him for second in plus-minus in the American Hockey League.

Martin St. Pierre’s four point night versus Rochester Nov. 28 propelled him past Ryan Keller (currently on recall to Ottawa) and into the scoring lead for the B-Sens. St. Pierre has recorded 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 23 games played this season.

Both Hennessy and St. Pierre notched their 100th American Hockey League goals this past week; Hennessy Nov. 27 at Toronto and St. Pierre Nov. 28 versus Rochester.

Jim O’Brien scored his first professional goal in the B-Sens 7-0 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms on Nov. 26. The Ottawa Senators’ 2007 first round pick (29th overall) has appeared in 22 games this season for the B-Sens recording one goal and three assists for four points and amassing 14 penalty minutes.

The Binghamton Senators are currently taking ticket orders for the upcoming Outdoor Classic versus the Syracuse Crunch at the Grandstand at the New York State Fairground on Feb. 20, 2010. Tickets are $30 and $40. Fans can place their orders by calling the Binghamton Senators at 607-722-7367 or by visiting the B-Sens executive offices, located on the third floor of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
