The Binghamton Senators fell 4-2 to the Portland Pirates on Saturday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, M.E. Although shots favored the B-Sens 40-31, a pair of power play goals helped the Pirates secure the win. The loss was the first suffered on the road for the B-Sens this season.
Alexandre Bolduc, Mathieu Brodeur, Andy Miele and Jordan Szwarz each scored goals for the Pirates. Former B-Sens forward Rob Klinkhammer assisted on Szwarz’s third period tally.
Corey Cowick and Jakob Silfverberg scored the B-Sens goals, both shorthanded.
Robin Lehner made his sixth consecutive start in goal for the B-Sens where he finished with 27 saves on 31 shots. Chad Johnson earned the win in goal for Portland, turning aside 38 of 40 Binghamton shots.
Sunday, Oct. 28: Binghamton 0, Manchester 4

PP: Binghamton 0 for 6, Manchester 1 for 3
The B-Sens came up empty-handed on Sunday evening as they were shutout by the Manchester Monarchs, 4-0, at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
Andy Andreoff, Brandon Kozun, Andrei Loktionov and Tyler Toffoli scored goals for the Monarchs.
Ben Bishop made his first start of the season in goal for the B-Sens making 34 saves on 38 shots. Monarchs netminder Martin Jones earned his sixth career American Hockey League shutout as he turned aside all 29 Binghamton shots.
Record: 3-3-1-0
Standings: The B-Sens are tied with the Hershey Bears for third place in the East Division (seven points).

Friday, Nov. 2 @ Norfolk Admirals (Anaheim Ducks) – 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 3 @ Norfolk Admirals – 7:15 p.m.
The B-Sens travel to Norfolk to take on the Admirals in back-to-back games this weekend. The games will be the first two of eight total meetings between the two teams this season.
The Admirals enter the week with a record of 5-1-0-0 and are tied with the Syracuse Crunch for second place overall in the East Division with 10 points.
Blueliner Sami Vatanen leads the team in points with seven (two goals, five assists). Forwards Peter Holland (2+4=6), Kyle Palmieri (2+4=6) and Devante Smith-Pelly (1+5=6) are all tied for second overall on the team in scoring with six points. Defenseman Nate Guenin leads the AHL in plus/minus with a +10.
Wednesday, Nov. 7 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburg Penguins) – 7:05 p.m.
Next Wednesday the B-Sens will make their first of five trips down I-81 to Wilkes-Barre to face the Penguins this season. The teams last met on Oct. 13 in Binghamton – a 2-1 B-Sens victory.
The Penguins currently sit in fifth place in the East Division with a record of 2-5-0-0 and four points.
Beau Bennett (1+4=5), Benn Ferriero (0+5=5) and Eric Tangradi (5+0=5) are tied for the team lead in points with five.
The B-Sens struggling power play (four for 41, 9.8%) will be facing the league’s second best penalty killing unit. The Pens have allowed only three goals on 43 power play opportunities for their opponents.
Fans can catch all the action live from the road on “Binghamton’s Classic Hits” BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM). Voice of the B-Sens, Grady Whittenburg will have the call beginning 15 minutes before each game as he hosts the Countdown to Faceoff.
SENS SNIPPETS…
Forward Jean-Gabriel Pageu scored his first professional point (an assist) in Binghamton’s 4-2 loss to Portland last Saturday.
Defenseman Mark Borowiecki currently ranks second overall in the AHL in penalty minutes with 47.
Goaltender Robin Lehner has started six of the B-Sens seven games, posting a record of 3-2-0 with a 1.80 goals-against average and .938 save percentage.
B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY…
On Tuesday, Nov. 6 following practice the B-Sens will be taking part in the second annual “Pucks for Paws” (Formerly Paws for Cause) calendar shoot. The 2013 Binghamton Senators Paws for Cause calendar, created in partnership with Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital in Johnson City, will feature B-Sens players, coaches and executive staff members with their family pets or pets from area shelters available for adoption.
Calendars will be available for sale mid to late November for $20. All calendar proceeds will benefit the Animal Care Council, Broome County Humane Society, Front Street Dog Shelter, the SPCA in Waverly and Project P.A.W.
