The Binghamton Senators kicked off a weekend of three games in as many nights with a 4-2 win over the Albany Devils on Friday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
 
Following a scoreless first period, Andre Petersson found the back of the net at 2:14 of the second to put Binghamton on the board. 
 
The Devils answered with a pair of goals from Tim Sestito and Eric Gelinas to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
 
The B-Sens would tie the game up 1:27 into the final period. Mike Hoffman dropped a pass to blue liner Craig Schira, who then blasted a shot in from the right faceoff dot, beating the Devils Jeff Frazee blocker side to knot the game at two.
 
Petersson put the B-Sens back out on top as his second of the night found its way from the right circle to the back of the net at 5:47.
 
David Dziurzynski then added some insurance for the B-Sens as he made his way onto the scoresheet with a goal at 14:53.
 
Mike McKenna made 32 saves to earn the win and improve to 14-17-1 on the season. Frazee turned aside 32 shots as he fell to 10-15-2.
Saturday, March 17: Rochester 4, Binghamton 3 (OT)

PP: Rochester 1 for 4, Binghamton 1 for 3
 
The Binghamton Senators fell to the Rochester Americans in overtime, 4-3, on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. With the loss, the B-Sens fell to 1-6-0-0 against the Amerks this season, and have now lost six straight games to the North Division rivals.
 
Paul Szczechura proved to be the hero for the Amerks as his 16th goal of the season beat B-Sens netminder Mike McKenna at 1:11 of overtime. 
 
T.J. Brennan, Nick Crawford and Travis Turnbull also recorded goals for the visiting Amerks. Colin Stuart and Mark Voakes each drew a pair of assists in the game.
 
Pat Cannone, Wacey Hamilton and Andre Petersson tallied goals for the B-Sens in the loss. 
 
In his second straight start in goal for the B-Sens, McKenna made 41 saves as he fell to 14-18-1 on the season. David Leggio turned aside 33 shots to improve to 23-17-1.
Sunday, March 18: Binghamton 2, W-B/Scranton 3

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins scored three unanswered goals to come from behind and defeat the Binghamton Senators 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Mohegan Sun Arena. 
 
Penguins forward Ben Street scored a pair of second period goals and added an assist for three points in the game. Goaltender Scott Munroe made 24 saves to earn his 100th American Hockey League victory and remain perfect (5-0-0) against the B-Sens this season.
 
Binghamton jumped to a two-goal lead in the first period as Mark Parrish and Wacey Hamilton posted goals at 8:50 and 14:14 respectively. 
 
Street knotted the game at two by the midway point of the second period, scoring goals just 4:21 apart. Street’s first goal of the afternoon came on the power play at 4:38. He added an even strength tally at the 8:59 mark of the period.
 
The Penguins would claim the lead for good at 12:28 of the third as Geoff Walker tipped a rebound in over a down and out Robin Lehner to give his team a 3-2 edge. Street drew the secondary assist on the goal.
 
Lehner made 34 saves as he fell to 9-19-1 on the season. With the victory Scott Munroe improves to 17-6-3 on the season.
 
Wednesday, March 21: Bridgeport 0, Binghamton 3
Shots: Bridgeport 41, Binghamton 27
PP: Bridgeport 0 for 4, Binghamton 1 for 6
 
The Binghamton Senators shut out the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-0 on Wednesday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
 
Robin Lehner made 41 saves for the B-Sens to earn his second shutout of the season and move into double-digits in the wins as he improved to 10-19-1 on the season. 
 
The B-Sens got on the board in the first as they capitalized on one of two power play opportunities in the period. With Bridgeport’s Brett Gallant off serving a slashing minor, Pat Cannone’s quick shot from the right circle found the back of the net at the 15:44 mark. Derek Grant and Mike Hoffman drew the assists on the play. 
 
Just past the midway point of the third period, Andre Petersson would be awarded a penalty shot after being taken down on a breakaway attempt. Petersson skated in and beat Kevin Poulin five-hole to increase the B-Sens’ lead to two. 
 
In the final minute of regulation, with Poulin pulled in favor of an extra attacker, Cannone capped off the scoring as his clearing attempt found Bridgeport’s empty net with 38 seconds to go. 
 
Record:26-35-3-2
 
Standings:The B-Sens are fifth place in the East Division (57 points).
                                                                       
THIS WEEK…
 
Friday, March 23 @ Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres) – 7:35 p.m.
 
The B-Sens kick off a two-game weekend as the travel to Rochester tomorrow night to take on the Amerks.  The game will be the eighth and final meeting in the season series between the teams. Through seven games against the Amerks this season the B-Sens are 1-6-0-0.
 
Rochester enters Friday’s game with a record of 31-23-6-4 and 72 points, tying them with the Lake Erie Monsters for second place in the North Division. The Amerks also have points in eight of their last 10 games (7-2-0-1). 
 
Phil Varone is the current assist and point leader for Rochester.  Through 64 games the center has posted 36 assists and 44 points. 
 
Sunday, March 25 @ Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers) – 3 p.m.
 
Sunday afternoon the B-Sens will head to Glenn Falls to face the Adirondack Phantoms. The meeting will be the first between the two teams since a Feb. 25 tilt in Binghamton, a 2-1 shootout victory for the
Phantoms.
 
Heading into the weekend, the Phantoms hold a record of 30-31-2-1 and 63 points, ranking them in fifth place in the Northeast Division.
 
Former Binghamton Senator Denis Hamel has 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) in 63 games with the Phantoms this season. Hamel leads his team in power play goals with 11 and leads the AHL in shots on goal with 256.  
 
Goaltender Michael Leighton is tops in the AHL when it comes to saves. In 45 games played, Leighton has made 1,230 saves.
 
Fans can listen to this weekend’s games live on “Binghamton’s Classic Hits” BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM). Voice of the B-Sens, Grady Whittenburg will have the call beginning 30 minutes before game time as he hosts the Countdown to Faceoff. 
 
Wednesday, March 28 vs. Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals) – 7:05 p.m.
 
The Binghamton Senators will welcome the Hershey Bears to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for the fourth and final time this season on Wednesday. The meeting is the seventh of eight between the East Division rivals, a series in which the B-Sens trail the Bears 1-5-0-0. 
 
The Bears will enter the weekend with a record of 35-20-4-6 and 80 points, ranking them third overall in the East Division.
 
The Bears, winners of four straight following a 3-2 victory over the St. John’s IceCaps in Hershey on Wednesday night, will host the Charlotte Checkers in back-to-back games this weekend before making the trip to Binghamton. 
 
Forward Chris Bourque leads the Bears in goals (25), shorthanded goals (5) and points (82). The forwards 82 points place him first overall in the AHL in scoring.

SENS SNIPPETS…
 
On Wednesday goaltender Robin Lehner made 41 saves to help lead the B-Sens to a 3-0 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The shutout was Lehner’s second of the season. The first came on March 7 in Toronto against the Marlies (a 2-0 B-Sens victory). Lehner now has five career shutouts as a Binghamton Senator, ranking him fifth overall on the B-Sens list of all-time shutout leaders.
