BINGHAMTON, N.Y.The Binghamton Senators and Syracuse Crunch squared off for the second time this season in a Sunday evening tilt. Both teams entered the game coming off big wins Saturday night; the B-Sens pummeled the Adirondack Phantoms 7-3, while the Crunch handed the undefeated Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins their first loss of the 2010-11 season.

Fortunately for the B-Sens they were able to capitalize on the momentum gained from the previous night’s effort, putting forth a four-goal first period on their way to a 5-0 shutout victory against the Crunch.

The Senators struck 2:40 into the opening period with a goal by Bobby Butler whose one-time wrist shot from the top of the slot, beat Syracuse goaltender Timo Pielmeier.  Corey Locke and Kaspars Daugavins earned the assists on the goal.

Mid-way through the period Colin Greening forced a turnover deep in Syracuse’s end that enabled Corey Locke to send a centering feed in front of the net to Bobby Butler who tallied his second of the night.

Jim O’Brien struck soon after on a rush led by Roman Wick with a pass that came from Eric Condra, putting the B-Sens up 3-0 at 10:25 in the first.

Late in the period, O’Brien scored his second of the night with a pass from the far left boards from Wick with Condra earning the secondary assist at 19:36.

Both teams played a scoreless second period. The majority of the third was scoreless as well until Butler tallied a hat trick goal in the final minute of the period on a power play. Locke would be credited with an assist, earning his third point of the night.

Robin Lehner made his third appearance between the pipes for the B-Sens, stopping all 33 Syracuse shots faced.

The Senators are in action again on Wednesday, November 10 as they host the Rochester Americans at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $17.75 for side seating, $16.75 for end seating. Fans can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or in person at the Binghamton Senators’ executive office or the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office.
