HERSHEY, P.A. – The B-Sens winless in six games entered their game for the Hershey Bears looking for what seems to have been an elusive “W”.
The B-Sens had the early momentum, jumping to a 2-0 lead within the first eight minutes of play. Tomas Kudelka and Kaspars Daugavins each net their first goals of the season.
At 14:28 of the first, the Bears narrowed their deficit to one goal as Darren Reid buried a puck past the B-Sens Mike Brodeur. Nearly two minutes later, Hershey forward Oskar Osala’s first goal of the season tied the game 2-2.
Head coach Don Nachbaur swapped a sluggish Brodeur in favor of Andy Chiodo in goal for the second period of play. Chiodo assisted on Ryan Keller’s team leading sixth goal of the season at 6:53, putting the B-Sens back on top 3-2.
3:12 into the third period, Zack Smith picked up a pass from Erik Condra, racing in on Hershey’s Michal Neuvirth and buried the shot to give the B-Sens some insurance, 4-2.
With 1:22 remaining on the clock in the 3rd period, Kudelka hits the Bears empty net, bumping the score to a final of 5-2. Keller and Smith assisted on Kudelka's empty netter for their second points on the night.
Chiodo put forth a solid performance in goal, stopping all 25 shots faced.
The Binghamton Senators return to the ice at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena next Friday, Oct. 30 as they face the Rochester Americans. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
