The Binghamton Senators continued their winning ways with a 5-2 victory over the Worcester Sharks on Wednesday night at the DCU Center, giving the squad its third straight win and a 10-point lead over Philadelphia for the fourth and final playoff position in the East Division.
Much like their victory over Portland on Tuesday night, the B-Sens were sparked by recent additions to the team. Jarrett Konkle and Matt Pope accounted for two of Binghamton’s first three goals. The Sharks tallied the lone goal of the first period with a power-play marker from leading scorer Ryan Vesce.
Binghamton exploded for four goals during the middle stanza. Rookie Zack Smith struck first,
netting a power-play goal just 28 seconds into the second period to make it a 1-1 contest.
Smith deflected a Mattias Karlsson shot past netminder Taylor Dakers.
Konkle and Pope added their goals in a 54 second span late in the period. Captain Denis Hamel
assisted on both markers. Marc Cavosie capped the second period scoring with his ninth goal of
The teams exchanged goals in the third period to make it a 5-2 final. Winger Greg Mauldin
finished the night with two points (1+1). Netminder Jeff Glass stopped 37 shots to earn his third
straight win for Binghamton.
