HOUSTON RALLIES LATE TO EDGE B-SENS, 3-2

The Binghamton Senators held an early two-goal lead before the Houston Aeros scored three unanswered goals to down the B-Sens by a 3-2 final on Friday night at the Toyota Center in Houston.
 
Rookie Zack Smith buried a power-play marker midway through the opening period to give Binghamton the 1-0 lead. Ryan Shannon and Ilya Zubov assisted on the goal. 
Two minutes later left-winger Greg Mauldin buried his eighth goal of the year off a feed from Shannon to extend the lead. 
 
The Aeros converted their lone power-play goal early in the middle period off the stick of Krys Kolanos.
 
Houston’s leading scorer Corey Locke tied the game in the opening stages of the third period before Brandon Rogers netted the game winner with five minutes left in regulation. Houston outshot Binghamton 24-12 over the final two periods.
 
Netminder Martin Gerber made 26 saves in the losing effort. Shannon finished the night with two assists and Smith had a two-point night (1+1).
 
The B-Sens return home on Saturday night to host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. Good seats remain for this contest. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling ticket master at 722-7272, or at the Arena box office inside the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
