BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators kept the momentum rolling following a Tuesday win over St. John’s as they defeated the Syracuse Crunch 5-2 Friday night at the OnCenter.
Four of the five B-Sens’ goals came in the first period as they extended their win streak to two games.  Mike Hoffman (two goals, one assist) and Corey Locke (one goal, two assists) led the Binghamton offense, each posting three points on the night.
Hoffman scored his first of two goals on the power play at 2:22 of the first period.  Eric Gryba and Locke picked up assist. Locke then followed Hoffman’s lead, scoring his ninth goal of the year less than three minutes later. Hoffman drew the primary assist on the play, while blueliner Tim Conboy received credit for the secondary assist.  Andre Petersson then scored his first goal since Jan. 28, unassisted, at the 7:07 mark. Hoffman added his second of the night with just 1:35 remaining in the opening frame.
In the second period, the Crunch cut into the lead that the B-Sens had built up as Patrick Maroon recorded his 26th goal of the year and team leading 56th point at 11:24 to get the Crunch on the board.  Less than one minute later, Conboy picked up a roughing penalty giving the Crunch a chance on the power play. Luca Caputi took advantage scoring his eighth goal of the year with assists going to Kyle Palmieri and Kyle Cumiskey at 12:09.
Pat Cannone added some insurance for Binghamton as he scored at 2:07 of the third to put the B-Sens ahead, 5-2.
Binghamton went 1-for-8 on the man advantage and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Ben Bishop made his second career start in goal for the B-Sens, stopping 42 shots to improve to 26-14-0. Antero Niittymaki started things in goal for the Crunch, but was pulled in favor of Iiro Tarkki after allowing four goals on 12 shots. Tarkki made 14 saves in the game’s final two periods.
Up next the B-Sens travel to Hershey tomorrow to take on the Bears. Game time is 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on “Binghamton’s Classic Hits” BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM).  Voice of the B-Sens, Grady Whittenburg will have the call beginning 30 minutes before game time as he hosts Countdown to Faceoff.
