The 2012-13 Binghamton Senators have been one of the most successful teams in the franchises 11 season history. The B-Sens franchise has only made it to the post season four times prior to this season and just one time since the 2004-05 campaign.

"Focus" is key for the B-Sens playoff run

It has been 690 days since the Binghamton Senators raised the Calder Cup in Houston on June 7, 2011. Playoff hockey can once again call Binghamton home. The fourth seeded B-Sens, who for much of the season were in contention for the best record in the American Hockey League, are facing off in the first round of the 2013 Calder Cup playoffs against their East Division rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who finished one spot back of Binghamton to grab the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Prepping for Penguins: B-Sens gear up for Round One

A first round Calder Cup playoff series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins is an all too familiar experience for the Binghamton Senators. After winning the East Division in the 2004-05 season, the B-Sens were set to play the Penguins in a seven game series that was expected to end quickly in Binghamton’s favor. Yet after a losing four consecutive games, one of which went into triple overtime, the B-Sens unexpectedly fell short in a playoff year that destined to be theirs.

The Pesky Push

After a year hiatus, the Binghamton Senators are just one point away from punching their ticket to the Calder Cup playoffs. When you consider the amount of personnel changes this team has faced the past couple of months; seeing players like Jakob Silfverberg, Mika Zibanejad, and Andre Benoit go up to Ottawa, along with numerous call ups from Elmira hopping in and out of the line-up almost on a nightly basis. This team’s success and chemistry is admirable to say the least. Especially, when you consider how young and inexperienced this team is.

From B-Sens to Big Sens

Transition isn’t always easy a thing. For athletes, transition is dealt with on a day-to-day basis from when they play, who they play, and where they play. One of the biggest adjustments the Binghamton Senators have to face is when they finally get the call to join their parent club up in Ottawa. Although the change is always a positive one that the B-Sens look forward to, it also has its challenges.

Anyone who ‘follows’ players in the Senators organization on Twitter, knows about the new trending hashtag ‘PeskySens’, or as we in Binghamton call it, ‘PeskyBSens’. Not only have we seen the buzzword on Twitter, but also on team t-shirts and the game video boards.

Every so often we are lucky enough to experience something special. On Thursday, Feb. 21 that moment came for nine-year-old Connor Ford, a young boy with Treacher Collins Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. He was fortunate enough to sit and watch the Binghamton Senators’ team practice and spend time with one of his favorite players, Hugh Jessiman.
