Saturday, Dec. 26: Adirondack 3, Binghamton 2
Shots: Adirondack 22, Binghamton 34
PP: Adirondack 0 for 3, Binghamton 1 for 4
Three third period goals from the Phantoms lead to the demise of the B-Sens in their post-Christmas match versus Adirondack at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Special teams contributed both B-Sens goals. Drew Bannister hit the Adirondack net short-handed nearly midway through the first period. Erik Condra tallied on the power play just over four minutes later. Condra was the night’s second star, walking away with two points as he also assisted on Bannister’s goal. Mike Brodeur manned the pipes for the B-Sens stopping 19 shots.
Sunday, Dec. 27: Binghamton 3, Rochester 5
Shots: Binghamton 36, Rochester 27
PP: Binghamton 1 for 5, Rochester 1 for 4
Binghamton took a trip north to the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. to take on the North division leading Amerks. The B-Sens trailed Rochester the entire game, failing to muster enough offense for a comeback. The B-Sens top three point producing players recorded goals in the contest: Martin St. Pierre, Denis Hamel and Josh Hennessy. Hennessy added an assist on St. Pierre’s goal for a two-point game, while defenseman Paul Baier registered two assists for his first multi-point game of the season. Brodeur left the game in the second period after allowing three goals on 15 shots. Andy Chiodo stepped in stopping 10 of 12.
Standings:The B-Sens are fourth place in the East division (32 points)
Wednesday, Dec. 30 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins)
The B-Sens kick off a week of three games versus East Division foes beginning Wednesday night in Wilkes-Barre versus the Penguins. Binghamton will be looking to gain some ground on the Pens who catapulted four points ahead of the Senators to take over third place in the division. In their last trip to the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza the B-Sens managed to escape with a point as they fell to Wilkes-Barre 3-2 in overtime. Dustin Jeffrey tallied the overtime winner and enters Wednesday’s match coming off a three point performance Monday night versus Adirondack (2 G – 1 A). In two games versus the Pens so far this season, B-Sens forward Martin St. Pierre has recorded two goals.
Thursday, Dec. 31 vs.  Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning)
The B-Sens already have four games against the Norfolk Admirals in the books this season. Thursday will be the first time the Senators will host the Admirals at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena during the 2009-10 season. The teams have split their season series so far 2-2. Fifteen different B-Sens players have recorded points against the Admirals so far this season, including six B-Sens defensemen. Forward Kaspars Daugavins has been the most troublesome for Norfolk recording four goals and two assists for six points in four games versus the Ads. In three of those four games Daugavins had a multi-point performance.
Promotions: Fans in attendance of the game will receive a B-Sens team poster courtesy of OTB…B-Sens will don Broome Dusters jerseys which will be auctioned off post-game.
Saturday, Jan. 1 @ Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals)
The B-Sens make their second trip to Chocolate Town for their first tilt of 2010 to face the Hershey Bears. The B-Sens lone win versus the Bears this season came back on Oct. 24 at the Giant Center as they went on to defeat Hershey 5-2. Binghamton hopes this trip will be just as sweet. The B-Sens may also hope they won’t have to face net minder Jason Bacashihua as he has helped lead the Bears to victory in both games in which he has faced the B-Sens so far this season. Bacashihua has stopped 70 of 73 Binghamton shots faced, which is good enough for a stingy 1.50 goals-against average versus the Senators.
B-Sens captain Denis Hamel scored his team-leading seventh power play goal of the season Sunday night in Rochester. The special teams tally ties Hamel for fifth place overall in the league in power play goals. He is ranked number one on the B-Sens all-time power play goal list as he has recorded 82 over his career in Binghamton.
Josh Hennessy continues to move up the ranks on the B-Sens all-time leaders in points. Following this week’s games Hennessy has amassed 171 career points with the B-Sens (80 G – 90 A), tying him for second place with Jason Spezza.
Defenseman Drew Bannister played in his 175th American Hockey League game Sunday in Rochester.
