The Binghamton Senators tied a club record for wins last Friday, defeating the visiting Portland Pirates 6-1 to claim their ninth straight win.
Pat Cannone and Jakob Silfverberg capped their nights with three points each – two goals and an assist. Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch also tallied three points in the game, scoring a goal and adding a pair of assists. Hugh Jessiman rounded out the scoring for the B-Sens.
Brendan Shinnimin scored the only goal for the Pirates.
Ben Bishop started in goal for Binghamton, making 40 saves en route to his fifth straight win. Mark Visentin started in goal for the Pirates, ending the night with 31 saves.
Saturday, Dec. 8: Norfolk 3, Binghamton 1

Jordan Hendry scored the game winning goal and added an assist to help lead the visiting Norfolk Admirals to a 3-1 victory over the B-Sens on Saturday, putting an end to Binghamton’s nine game win streak.
Kyle Palmieri and Brandon McMillan also added goals for the Admirals.
Derek Grant scored the B-Sens’ lone goal, shorthanded and unassisted.
Robin Lehner started in goal for Binghamton stopping 32 of 35 shots. Fredrik Andersen started in goal for Norfolk turning aside 39 of 40 shots.
Record:13-5-1-1
Standings:The B-Sens are currently tied with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for second place overall in the East Division (28 points).
THIS WEEK…
Wednesday, Dec. 12 @ Syracuse Crunch (Tampa Bay Lightning) – 7 p.m.
The B-Sens will hit the road for Syracuse tonight where they will tangle with the Crunch in the fourth of eight meetings between the division rival this season. Binghamton has posted a record of 2-0-1-0 against the Crunch so far this season.
The Crunch enter the week leading the East Division with a record of 14-6-1-2 and 31 points.
Tyler Johnson continues to lead the American Hockey League in goals (15) and the Crunch in points (25).
Friday, Dec. 14 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins) – 7:05 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 19 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins – 7:05 p.m.
The B-Sens have a home-and-home of sorts with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the next week. The team travels to Wilkes-Barre on Friday, before welcoming the rival Pens to Binghamton next Wednesday for the third and fourth meetings of ten total scheduled to take place between the East Division foes.
The teams last met in Wilkes-Barre on Nov. 7 – a 1-0 shootout loss for the B-Sens.
The Penguins enter this week with a record of 13-7-1-1 and are tied with Binghamton for second place overall in the division. After a slow start to the season, the Penguins rebounded and are 7-1-1-1 in their last 10 games.
Forward Beau Bennett leads the team in assists (14) and points (19).
Promotions: The B-Sens host an Ugly Sweater party as they welcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to town on Dec. 19. Fans are encouraged to wear their ugliest Christmas sweaters to the game that night! The person deemed to have the ugliest Christmas sweater that night will win a B-Sens sweatshirt – to help them reclaim some sense of style!

With his shorthanded tally against the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday, Derek Grant now leads the AHL in shorthanded goals with three. Grant’s three shorthanded tallies contribute to Binghamton’s league-leadings total of eight.
B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY…
The Binghamton Senators have partnered with Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital in Johnson City for their second annual season-long effort to assist the Southern Tier pet population, dubbed “Pucks 4 Paws” (formerly known as Paws for Cause).
The initiative has officially kicked off with the debut of the 2013 Binghamton Senators Paws for Cause calendar. The 16-month calendar features photos of B-Sens players, coaches and staff members with their family pets or pets from the area shelters. The limited edition calendars are $20 and available for purchase at the Pucks 4 Paws table on Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena concourse for all upcoming B-Sens home games, while supplies last.
New this year Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital will be raffling off a special Binghamton Senators pendant, designed exclusively for Pucks 4 Paws by CD Daniel & Co. Fine Jewelry. The pendant, valued at $1,500, is reversible. One side features a diamond paw print, while the other features the B-Sens logo accented by rubies and black diamonds. The pendant will be on display at the Pucks 4 Paws table on the arena concourse for all upcoming B-Sens home games until the drawing which is set to take place on Feb. 15. Fans need not be present to win. Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Pucks 4 Paws table, the B-Sens executive offices during regular business hours and Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital (716 Harry L Drive, Johnson City).
All proceeds from the calendar and raffle sales will benefit the Animal Care Council, Broome County Humane Society, Front Street Dog Shelter, SPCA in Waverly and Project P.A.W.
