Tuesday, Nov. 10: Binghamton 5, Norfolk 3

The B-Sens kicked off back-to-back games at the Scope in Norfolk, skating away with a 5-3 win Tuesday night. Five B-Sens recorded two-point nights in the contest: Craig Schira (0 + 2), Denis Hamel (0 + 2), Zack Smith (2 + 0), Kaspars Daugavins (1 + 1) and Ryan Keller (1 + 1). Martin St. Pierre also tallied a goal for Binghamton. The B-Sens went 2 for 4 on the power play and Andy Chiodo tended goal stopping 27 of 30 shots. Paul Szczechura shone for the Admirals scoring two of the three Norfolk goals.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 11: Binghamton 3, Norfolk 5
Shots: Binghamton 33, Norfolk 35
PP: Binghamton 1 for 4, Norfolk 1 for 6
 
The B-Sens faced the Norfolk Admirals in a Veterans Day rematch. Same score, but this time it was the Admirals soaring past the Sens 5-3. Daugavins scored twice, while Hamel net the other Binghamton goal in the losing effort. Mike Brodeur started the game in net for the B-Sens, but after allowing three goals on nine shots, he was pulled in favor of Chiodo who stopped 24 of 26 shots faced. Tim Spencer would receive a game misconduct for leaving the bench to enter an altercation, which would ultimately result in a three-game suspension, issued Friday, Nov. 13.
 
Friday, Nov. 13: Binghamton 5, Adirondack 0
Shots: Binghamton 29, Adirondack 21
PP: Binghamton 2 for 6, Adirondack 0 for 5
 
The B-Sens took on the Phantoms at Glen Falls Civic Center for their first of ten regular season games between the two clubs, which saw the Senators blanking Adirondack 5-0. For the second time in three games, five B-Sens recorded two points in the game: Erik Condra (1+1), Hamel (2+0), Josh Hennessy (0+2), Erik Karlsson (0+2), and Derek Smith (2+0). Goaltender Brodeur bounced back from being pulled in the first period the previous game, stopping all 21 shots faced.
 
Saturday, Nov. 14: Binghamton 5, Manchester 6 (Shootout)
Shots: Binghamton 45, Manchester 36
PP: Binghamton 2 for 4, Manchester 0 for 1
 
The B-Sens took on the Atlantic Division-leading Manchester Monarchs for the first time this season. The B-Sens found themselves down 5-1 following two periods of play and well into the third period, punctuated by a pair of goals from Monarchs’ forward Corey Elkins. Binghamton made a comeback in the third period to tie the game. Hamel, Daugavins, St. Pierre and Schira would all register goals in a span of nine minutes to send the game into overtime. The game decision came down to a shootout, where the Monarchs put up two goals to the B-Sens one, the winning goal scored by Justin Azevedo.

Standings:The B-Sens are tied for fourth place in the East division (17 points)
 
THIS WEEK…
 
Friday, Nov. 20 vs. Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals)
 
In the first game of their weekend home stand at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, the B-Sens look to even the series up with the Hershey Bears. Each team has a regulation win, but the Bears hold the advantage with a 3-2 overtime win on their last visit to the Arena on Oct. 17. Binghamton will look to gain some ground on the reigning Calder Cup champions, who sit atop the East Division currently with 24 points.
 
Saturday, Nov. 21 vs. Albany River Rats (Carolina Hurricanes)
 
With just one point separating the two teams in the East Division as of Nov. 17the B-Sens and the River Rats face off in the second game of just as many nights for both teams. Binghamton (tied for fourth, 17 points) look to inch past Albany (tied for second, 18 points) in an East Division showdown. In their only meeting so far in the 2009-10 season, the Senators blanked the River Rats 2-0 at the Times Union Center in Albany, highlighted by Mike Brodeur’s 25 saves and the winning goal from Cody Bass.
 
Promotion: College Night: Students receive a $10 game ticket when they present their school I.D. at the B-Sens’ executive offices located on the third floor of the Arena. All fans in attendance will receive a B-Sens team poster courtesy of Quickway. Post-game there will be an on-ice autograph signing.
 
SENS SNIPPITS
 
Captain Denis Hamel led the charge for the B-Sens last week. In four games played, Hamel registered four goals and three assists for seven points (4 + 3 = 7). Hamel leads all B-Sens in assists with 10 and shots on goal with 61.
 
Ryan Keller continues to lead the B-Sens in points. Keller has scored a team leading nine goals. Add his nine assists and Keller sits in the number one spot in scoring with 18 points in 17 games played. Keller has also amassed an impressive, team best +10. 
 
Last week, forward Josh Hennessy registered four assists in four games played. He has now surpassed Charlie Stephens on the B-Sens all-time leaders in assists. Hennessy currently ranks third with 84 assists. He trails only Jason Spezza (117) and Denis Hamel (170).
 
Saturday, Nov. 14 versus Manchester, the B-Sens welcomed their largest home crowd so far of the 2009-10 season at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. 3,992 fans packed the Arena, witnessing a four-goal comeback by the B-Sens in the third period.
