B-SENS WEEKLY RELEASE (WEEK 18)

LAST WEEK: The Binghamton Senators (27-16-5-3, 62 pts.) took six of a possible eight points this past week in four non-divisional games and grabbed sole possession of third place in the East Division standings.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 4 vs. SAN ANTONIO (4-3 W): The B-Sens grabbed a three-goal advantage early and held off a late Rampage rally for the victory.  The teams combined for 112 penalty minutes in the physical battle.  Defenseman Tomas Kudelka buried Binghamton’s opening goal and had a two-point (1+1) night.  Fellow defenseman Drew Fata collected two assists. Marc Cavosie scored a short-handed goal, the seventh of the season for the B-Sens.  Center Josh Hennessy buried the game-winning goal. Netminder Martin Gerber made 26 saves to earn the victory.

FRIDAY, FEB. 6 @ HAMILTON (3-2 OTL): In a defensive struggle, the B-Sens held Hamilton to just nine shots through two periods.  Defenseman Yannick Weber converted on one of those nine shots in the closing minutes of the second period to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage.  After a second Hamilton power-play goal, the B-Sens rallied with two goals in the final four minutes of regulation to send the game into overtime.  Danny Bois buried his 10th marker of the season to get Binghamton within one goal. With the goaltender pulled, Greg Mauldin struck with just four seconds remaining to secure one point for the B-Sens.  Weber spoiled the comeback attempt with the overtime winner for Hamilton.

SATURDAY, FEB. 7 @ ROCHESTER (3-2 OTL): The B-Sens found themselves down by two goals for the second straight game.  The Amerks converted on two power plays to take a 2-0 advantage into the first intermission.  The B-Sens battled back in the second period with their top-ranked power-play unit.  Peter Regin took a Tomas Kudelka pass and snapped it past netminder Tyler Plante.  The B-Sens struck again on the power play in the third period with a deflection goal from Josh Hennessy.  Rochester defenseman Jason Garrison fired the game-winning goal under the crossbar at 2:24 of overtime to hand Binghamton a second straight overtime loss.

SUNDAY, FEB. 8 @ SPRINGFIELD (2-1 W): After two scoreless periods leading scorer Ryan Potulny gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead with a power-play marker at 2:07 of the final period.  Tomas Kudelka answered for the B-Sens with his sixth marker of the season.  The B-Sens grabbed the lead two minutes later when Kudelka fed Josh Hennessy for the game-winning goal, Hennessy’s second game-winning goal of the week.  Netminder Martin Gerber stopped 27 shots for the B-Sens.
