Josh Hennessy’s two-goal game and a late rally by the B-Sens were not enough as Binghamton fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-3 on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.   Hennessy’s two goal game continued his point streak which is now at three games (3-1) and also gave him six points in his last six games (4-2).
The B Sens started out well holding the Bulldogs to just three shots in the first period which is a season best. Josh Hennessy used this early momentum towards the middle of the first period on a power play when he hit a wide open net on a pass that went behind the goalie from Mattias Karlsson.   The goal was Hennessy’s 11th and the assist was Karlsson’s 21st.   Ilya Zubov also picked up an assist, his 19th of the season.
Hamilton scored two goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead.   The first came early in the first when Ben Maxwell put a rolling puck past Binghamton netminder Jeff Glass.   The go ahead goal came late in the period with two seconds left on a power play when Ryan White deflected a shot in from the blue line.
The Bulldogs continued to roll when they scored two goals in 26 seconds in the middle of the third period.   Jeff Glass was pulled from the game and newcomer Mitch O’Keefe made his B-Sens debut. The B-Sens tried to come back late in the period when Hennessy scored his second goal of the game and 12th of the season making the game 4-2.   Matt Carkner fired a shot from the blue line where Hennessy tipped it past Hamilton netminder Cedrick Desjardins.
Ilya Zubov brought the B-Sens within one goal minutes after when he caught the defense out of position going one-on-one with the goalie. The goal was Zubov’s 12th and second point of the game. The comeback was cut short when Hamilton added an empty net goal in the final minute.
The B-Sens return to action Thursday night at San Antonio where they take on the Rampage at 8:00 p.m.   Tune into 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, Voice of the B-Sens.  Fans can also tune in to B-Sens’ games via webcast or streaming video cast at www.ahllive.com
