LINDBERG LIFTS B-SENS IN OT

TORONTO – Tobias Lindberg scored 3:22 into overtime to give the Binghamton Senators the 6-5 win over their host Toronto Marlies heading in to the All Star Break.

Josh Leivo notched his 12th goal of the season 8:43 into the first after he finished a 2-on-1 rush with Connor Brown.  Binghamton responded less than two minutes later when Colin Greening sent a centering feed to a charging David Dziurzynski who one-timed the pass for his seventh strike of the year.  Toronto outshot the B-Sens 14-9 over the first 20 minutes of play as the teams headed to the first intermission tied 1-1.

Leivo notched his second of the night just 56 seconds into the middle frame to give the Marlies the 2-1 lead.  Mark Arcobello beat Chris Driedger on the power play for his 18th goal of the year at the 14:38 mark to extend the host’s lead to 3-1.  Binghamton returned the game to a one-goal contest with less than five minutes to play in the frame after Ryan Dzingel beat Garret Sparks for his 12th of the year.  Shots on goal were once again 14-9 in favor of Toronto with the teams heading to the final intermission 3-2 in favor of the Marlies.

The teams combined for five goals over the final frame with Binghamton notching three to take the game into overtime.  Eric O’Dell scored on the power play just 56 seconds into the final period to even the score 3-3.  Cole Schneider gave Binghamton a brief 4-3 lead with a shorthanded tally just past the six-minute mark, but Zach Hyman returned the favor with a man-down goal of his own just over one minute later.  Greening grabbed his seventh of the year 16:22 into the third but once again the Marlies answered, this time just 20 seconds later, after Brown pushed the game to overtime with the score tied 5-5.

Lindberg completed a breakaway attempt in the sudden-death period to give the B-Sens the win in their final game before the All-Star break.  Six B-Sens’ skaters recorded multi-point nights with Dziurzynski leading the way with a goal and two helpers.  Driedger stopped 32 of 37 shots faced to earn the victory while Sparks was dealt the loss after allowing six goals on 29 shots faced.
