B-SENS COMPLETE COMEBACK WITH 4-3 OT WIN

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Senators twice overcame a one-goal third period deficit to defeat their host Lehigh Valley Phantoms in overtime 4-3.  The B-Sens Aaron Johnson notched the game-winning tally with just 11 seconds remaining in the extra period to give Binghamton the come-from-behind victory.

Zack Stortini swatted home his 11th of the season 1:29 into the opening period to give the Phantoms the 1-0 lead.  Petr Straka doubled Lehigh Valley’s lead with just over six minutes remaining in the frame to give the hosts the 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.  Scott Greenham stopped 9 of 11 shots while Anthony Stolarz stonewalled all 16 Binghamton tries in the opening 20 minutes.

Binghamton managed to cut the lead to 2-1 2:36 into the second when Garrett Thompson redirected a shot from Chris Wideman past Stolarz for his fifth marker of the year.  Despite outshooting the Phantoms 13-7 over the middle frame, the B-Sens skated into the final intermission break trailing by a goal.

Darren Kramer ramped home his fourth tally of the season with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to even the score at 2-2, but Lehigh Valley stormed right back as Jason Akeson scored less than one minute later to regain the one-goal lead for the Phantoms.  With Greenham on the bench in favor of an extra Binghamton skater, Colin Greening redirected a slap shot from Alex Grant past Stolarz with just 43 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

While each team traded great scoring chances over the sudden-death period, it was Johnson who gave the B-Sens their first lead of the night on his game-winning goal 6:49 into the seven-minute overtime period.

Wideman finished with three assists while Thompson earned his first professional multi-point night with a goal and an assist.  Greenham finished with 33 saves to improve to 9-6-2 on the year while Stolarz allowed four goals on 44 shots faced to drop to 7-11-1.

Binghamton returns to action Friday, February 20, when they host the Hershey Bears at 7:05p.m.  Fans can purchase $15 tickets with $2 being donated to the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier.  Ticket special available in person at the B-Sens Executive Office or online here: https://bsens.formstack.com/forms/difd.
