The Binghamton Senators kicked off a stretch of three games in four nights as they visited the Times Union Center in Albany to face the Devils for the first time this season.
 
Despite being outshot 37 to 17, the B-Sens edged the Devils 3-2. 
 
Cole Schneider scored a pair of goals and Jakob Silfverberg tallied the game winner late in the third period for the visiting Senators. 
 
Former B-Sens forward Bobby Butler scored both Devils goals. 
 
Robin Lehner started in goal for Binghamton and turned aside 35 of 37 shots to earn the win. Jeff Frazee tended goal for Albany, stopping 14 of 17. 
 
Saturday, Dec. 29: Binghamton 2, Rochester 1
Shots: Binghamton 29, Rochester 27
PP: Binghamton 0 for 3, Rochester 0 for 3
 
The B-Sens travelled to Rochester Saturday where they went on to defeat the Amerks 2-1. 
 
Derek Grant and Corey Cowick each scored goals for the B-Sens. 
 
Marcus Foligno potted the lone Amerks goal in the game.
 
Robin Lehner made his second consecutive start in goal, stopping 26 of 27 shots on goal. David Leggio started in goal for Rochester turning aside 27 of 29. 
 
Monday, Dec. 31: St. John’s 2, Binghamton 4
Shots: St. John’s 31, Binghamton 27
PP: St. John’s 1 for 5, Binghamton 1 for 5  
 
The B-Sens ended 2012 on a positive note as they defeated the St. John’s IceCaps 4-2 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial on New Year’s Eve.
 
Mike Hoffman, Shane Prince, Derek Grant and Mark Stone each tallied goals for the B-Sens. 
 
Maxime Macenauer and Paul Postma each scored for the IceCaps.
 
Ben Bishop tended goal for the B-Sens stopping 29 of 31 shots. Eddie Pasquale started in goal for St. John’s stopping 23 of 26 shots. 
 
Record:19-7-1-2
 
Standings:The B-Sens are second place overall in the East Division (41 points).

THIS WEEK…
 
Friday, Jan. 4 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins) – 7:05 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 9 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins - 7:05 p.m.
 
The B-Sens kick off a stretch of three games in three nights as they welcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The B-Sens will then hit the road for Wilkes-Barre next Wednesday. 
 
Wilkes-Barre enters the weekend with a record of 14-14-2-1 and 31 points, ranking them fourth overall in the East Division. 
 
The B-Sens hold a record of 3-0-0-1 against the struggling Pens who have gone 1-7-1-1 in their past ten games. 
 
Rookie Beau Bennett leads the Pens in points with 21 (five goals, 16 assists). 
 
Promotions: Tomorrow is 40 Years of Hockey Night presented by Matthews Auto. Among the night’s many festivities, the first 2,500 fans through the gate as doors open at 6 p.m. will receive a commemorative poster featuring the logos of each of Binghamton’s five professional teams and the B-Sens will be wearing special jerseys featuring the “40 Years of Hockey” logo that will be auctioned off post-game. For more information click here.
 
Saturday, Jan. 5 @ Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals) – 7 p.m.
 
The B-Sens travel to Hershey on Saturday where they will face the Bears for the first time since Oct. 21. The meeting is the third of eight between the teams this season. The B-Sens fell to the Bears 3-2 in Binghamton back on Oct. 19, but rebounded with a 2-1 overtime victory in Hershey just two days later.
 
Hershey currently sits in third place in the East Division with a record of 16-14-1-1 and 34 points. 
 
Jeff Taffe is the Bears scoring leader with seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points. Former B-Sens forward Ryan Potulny has appeared in 23 games for the Bears recording 15 points (four goals, 11 assists). 
 
Sunday, Jan. 6 @ Albany Devils (New Jersey Devils) – 4 p.m.
 
After going through over a quarter of the season before facing the Devils, the B-Sens will take their second trip to Albany in just over a week to face the Northeast Division rival. 
 
The Devils currently rank third place in the Northeast Division with a record of 11-11-1-6 and 29 points. 
 
Former B-Sens forward Bobby Butler brings a lot of firepower to the Devils line-up. He currently leads the Devils in goals (14), power play goals (5) and points (21). The forward had a stellar month of December, scoring 11 goals and adding five assists for a total of 16 points in 12 games.
 
SENS SNIPPETS…
 
With his shorthanded tally against the St. John’s IceCaps on Monday, Derek Grant extended his American Hockey League lead in shorthanded goals to four. Grant’s shorties make up nearly half of Binghamton’s league-leading total of nine.
 
Rookie Chris Wideman drew the secondary assist on Corey Cowick’s game winning tally in Rochester last Saturday to earn his first American Hockey league point. 
 
With the B-Sens’ 4-2 win over St. John's on Monday night, B-Sens head coach Luke Richardson has earned one of the two coaching spots for the Eastern Conference at the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Classic, set for January 27-28 in Providence, R.I. Binghamton owns the conference's best record (19-7-1-2, .707) as of the pre-determined deadline: the end of play on Dec. 31.
 
B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY…
 
The Binghamton Senators have partnered with Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital in Johnson City for their second annual season-long effort to assist the Southern Tier pet population, dubbed “Pucks 4 Paws” (formerly known as Paws for Cause).
 
The initiative has officially kicked off with the debut of the 2013 Binghamton Senators Pucks 4 Paws calendar. The 16-month calendar features photos of B-Sens players, coaches and staff members with their family pets or pets from the area shelters. The limited edition calendars are $20 and available for purchase at the Pucks 4 Paws table on Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena concourse for all upcoming B-Sens home games, while supplies last. 
 
There are also exclusive Pucks 4 Paws baseball style t-shirts available for $15.
 
New this year Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital will be raffling off a special Binghamton Senators pendant, designed exclusively for Pucks 4 Paws by CD Daniel & Co. Fine Jewelry. The pendant, valued at $1,500, is reversible. One side features a diamond paw print, while the other features the B-Sens logo accented by rubies and black diamonds. The pendant will be on display at the Pucks 4 Paws table on the arena concourse for all upcoming B-Sens home games until the drawing which is set to take place on Feb. 15. Fans need not be present to win. Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Pucks 4 Paws table, the B-Sens executive offices during regular business hours and Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital (716 Harry L Drive, Johnson City).
 
All proceeds from the calendar, t-shirt and raffle sales will benefit the Animal Care Council, Broome County Humane Society, Front Street Dog Shelter, SPCA in Waverly and Project P.A.W.
