Despite being outshot 40 to 24, the Binghamton Senators edged the Albany Devils 3-2 last Friday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
Andre Petersson scored a pair of power play goals and Jim O’Brien notched the game winner, shorthanded, in the third period to seal the victory for the B-Sens. Stephane Da Costa and Rob Klinkhammer followed in Petersson’s footsteps, also earning two points in the game, as each player recorded a pair of assists.
Matt Taormina and Stephane Veilleux each tallied goals for the Devils.
Mike McKenna started in goal against his former team, making 38 saves for Binghamton. Jeff Frazee earned the nod in goal for Albany, making 21 saves.

David Dziurzynski scored a pair of goals and added a pair of assists as the B-Sens defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
Andre Petersson also tallied a pair of goals for the B-Sens. Mike Hoffman and Corey Locke each scored a goal and an assist. Also earning two points in the match were Pat Cannone, Stephane Da Costa and Rob Klinkhammer – each receiving credit for a pair of assists.
Jack Downing also got in on the scoring action. With the B-Sens trailing 2-1 following the first period, Downing’s first American Hockey League goal tied the game just 1:46 into the game’s middle frame.
Ben Street and Eric Tangradi each posted a goal and an assist for the Penguins. Brian Lerg and Geoff Walker also added goals on the Wilkes-Barre side of the scoresheet.
Mike McKenna made his third consecutive start in goal for Binghamton and in turn earned his third consecutive win. The netminder made 31 saves to improve to 13-12-0 on the season and help the B-Sens to their fourth consecutive victory. Brad Thiessen drew the start in goal for the Pens, but would be replaced by Scott Munroe in the third after allowing five goals on 13 shots. Munroe made six saves.

Standings:The B-Sens are fifth place in the East Division (42 points).
THIS WEEK…
Friday, Feb. 3 @ Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings) – 7 p.m.
The Binghamton Senators are in Manchester tonight to take on the Monarchs in the second of two regular season meetings between the two teams. The teams last met in Binghamton on Dec. 2, a 4-1 Binghamton victory.
Entering tonight’s game the Monarchs rank second overall in the Atlantic Division with a record of 25-20-0-2 and 52 points.
Players to watch include Marc-Andre Cliché, the Monarchs’ currently leader in points. The forward has scored 14 goals and added 16 assists for 30 points in 47 games played. Manchester netminder Jeff Zatkoff currently boasts the league’s second best save percentage of .932.
Saturday, Feb. 4 @ Portland Pirates (Phoenix Coyotes) – 7 p.m.
Up next this weekend the B-Sens will travel to Portland to take on the Pirates in the first of two meetings between the teams. The Pirates will make the trip to Binghamton on Feb. 18 to round out the season series.
The Pirates are currently sitting in fourth place overall in the Atlantic Division with a record of 21-18-2-3 and 47 points.
Forward Brock Trotter leads the Pirates in points. Trotter is averaging over a point per game having posted 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points through 34 games.
SENS SNIPPETS…
The Binghamton Senators enter the week on a season-high four game win streak.

Brien’s goal in Friday’s 3-2 victory over Albany was his third consecutive game winning goal. The forward now leads the team in game winning goals with four and is also the leader in shorthanded goals with three.
Forward Andre Petersson was named the Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Month for January. Petersson found the scoresheet in each of his eight outings during the month including six multiple-point efforts, totaling eight goals and seven assists for 15 points.
Petersson ranks fifth among AHL rookies with his team-leading 16 goals and has added 13 assists for 29 points in 32 games with the B-Sens this season.
