SENATORS SIGN CENTER JOSH HENNESSY

Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today that the club has signed center Josh Hennessy to a two-year, two-way contract.

In 76 games with the B-Sens this past season, Hennessy was second on the team in goals (22) and points (51), while adding 49 penalty minutes.  In 232 career American Hockey League games over three professional seasons Hennessy has scored 73 goals and added 98 assists while recording 163 penalty minutes.

Hennessy played five games with Ottawa last season and was held scoreless while averaging 3:45 of ice time per game. He started the season with Ottawa, appearing in two games before being returned to Binghamton.  Hennessy was recalled to Ottawa on Jan. 31, playing three games before being reassigned to the B-Sens for the duration of the season.

The 23-year-old made his National Hockey League debut with the Senators during the 2006-07 season, scoring one goal and registering four penalty minutes in 10 games.  He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 7, 2007, against Philadelphia's Antero Niittymaki.

The native of Brockton, Mass., was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2003 NHL entry draft.  Hennessy played four seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), collecting 291 points (128-163) and 162 penalty minutes in 269 games.

Hennessy was traded to Chicago by San Jose with Tom Preissing for Mark Bell on July 9, 2006, and then traded to Ottawa by Chicago with Tom Preissing, Michal Barinka and Chicago's second-round choice in 2008 Entry Draft (Patrick Wiercioch) for Martin Havlat and Bryan Smolinski on July 10, 2006.

2008-09 full-season, half-season tickets, coupon books, 10-game and 5-game plans are on sale. For information on ticket packages contact the Binghamton Senators’ executive office at (607) 722-SENS.
