The Binghamton Senators came up empty-handed in their trip to the Tidewater area of Virginia as they were shutout 3-0 by the Norfolk Admirals on Friday evening.
With the win the Admirals took possession of first place in the East Division while the Senators fell to second with their fifth straight loss.
A Marty Wilford power-play goal at 6:14 of the first period was all the Admirals would need for their fourth straight win. Also scoring for the Admirals were rookie Rene Bourque and Jim Vandermeer.
Norfolk goalie Michael Leighton once again gave the Senators trouble. Leighton has shutout Binghamton in four of his last six games against the Senators. All four shutouts have been 3-0 wins for the Admirals.
On Friday night Leighton made 36 saves while Ray Emery stopped 22 of 25 shots for Binghamton.
Binghamton was 0 for 3 with the man advantage while the Admirals were 2 for 4.
The Senators head north to take on the Hershey Bears tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Tune in for all the action on WINR 680-AM. |
