SENATORS SEND DEFENSEMAN MATT CARKNER TO BINGHAMTON

The Ottawa Senators have assigned defenseman Matt Carkner to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.  Carkner must first clear waivers by noon on Monday (Oct. 22) before he can join the B-Sens.

The 26-year-old played Ottawa’s first pre-season game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sept. 18. He had one five-minute fighting major, but suffered a broken left hand and hasn’t practiced with the team since then.

Carkner signed with Ottawa in July 2007 after spending last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.  In 75 games with the Penguins, he scored six goals and added 24 assist for 30 points while recording 167 penalty minutes.

The defenseman was drafted by Montreal in the second round (58th overall) of the 1999 NHL entry draft.

2007-08 Binghamton Senators’ season tickets, half-season, coupon books, 10 game & 5 game plans are on sale!!!  Please call the Binghamton Senators’ executive office at (607) 722-SENS for information on ticket packages.
