HEAD-TO-HEAD: This weekend’s games mark the first time this season that Binghamton has faced the Norfolk Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Senators last defeated the Admirals on Feb. 17, 2007 at First Arena in Elmira. Netminder Jeff Glass tied a career-high with 43 saves, backstopping the B-Sens to the 4-1 victory on neutral ice. Captain Denis Hamel set AHL career highs in goals (4) and points (5) in a 7-4 win over Norfolk on March, 8 2006 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
BINGHAMTON SENATORS: The Senators enter this weekend’s series against Norfolk on a high note following their commanding 5-2 victory over Hershey last weekend. Winger Niko Dimitrakos buried two markers, while Danny Bois chipped in a goal and two assists to pace the Senators attack. Rookie defenseman Brian Lee added two helpers against Hershey, giving the first-round draft pick three assists in his first three AHL games.
B-SENS STREAKS: Rookie center Alexander Nikulin has a three-game point streak (1+2=3).
B-SENS TRANSACTIONS: Defenseman Tomas Kudelka and right wing Jim McKenzie were reassigned by Ottawa (NHL) to Elmira (ECHL) on 10/17/07. Goaltender Brian Elliott was loaned from Ottawa (NHL) to Binghamton (AHL) on 10/15/07. Goaltender Joel Martin was released from his professional tryout contract on 10/15/07. Goaltender Ray Emery was recalled from loan by Ottawa (NHL) on 10/14/07.
NORFOLK ADMIRALS: The Admirals have struggled out of the gate this season, going 1-3 in their first four games. Winger Kyle Wanvig paces the Admirals attack with four points (2+2=4) through the first four games. Winger Norm Milley has three helpers in four games. Ryan Munce backstopped Norfolk to its lone victory, a 2-1 shootout win over Albany, with 36 saves.
