The Binghamton Senators scored one goal for the second straight night as the Albany River Rats held on for a 2-1 win at the Arena on Sunday evening.
After a scoreless first period, Cory Pecker gave the B-Sens a 1-0 lead just twenty-eight seconds into the second. The winger stole a cross-ice pass in the Senators zone and raced the length of the ice. Pecker beat two Albany defenders down the ice and slipped the puck through the legs of netminder Tyler Weiman.
The River Rats responded four minutes later, as Albany captain Keith Aucoin buried his 20th marker of the season. Albany advanced on a three-on-one rush, passing the puck three times before scooping it past netminder Kelly Guard.
The game-winner came at the 13:34 mark of the second period. Aucoin retrieved a loose puck behind the B-Sensí cage and passed to the front of the crease where a streaking Antti Laaksonen tapped it home to seal the victory.
The teams combined for just six penalty minutes, a new franchise record for the B-Sens. The Senators took 18 third-period shots, but were unable to get one past Tyler Weiman. Kelly Guard had 34 saves in the losing effort.
