AHL Announces Suspensions

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Ö The American Hockey League today announced that Hartford Wolf Pack right wing Francis Lessard has been suspended for ten (10) games and Portland Pirates left wing Trevor Gillies has been suspended for six (6) games as a result of their actions during an AHL game between the teams on Apr. 15.
Both players received game misconducts under AHL Rule 47.8 for becoming involved in an altercation prior to the start of the second period. Lessard was also assessed two gross misconduct penalties.
Lessard will begin serving his suspension with Game 1 of Hartfordís Atlantic Division semifinal playoff series vs. Providence on Wednesday (Apr. 18). If any games remain on the suspension when Hartfordís season ends, they will be served at the beginning of the 2007-08 regular season.
As Portland did not qualify for the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs, Gillies will serve his suspension at the start of the 2007-08 regular season.
